unsweetened cocoa

oil

hot coffee
1 c
milk

eggs
1 tsp
vanilla extract
..frosting..

powdered sugar
1 c
milk
5 Tbsp
flour
1/2 c
butter, softened
1/2 c
shortening
1 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Granny's Moist Chocolate Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1preheat oven to 325 degrees; grease and flour the pan.
  • 2Sift together dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  • 3Add oil, coffee and milk; mix at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • 4Add eggs and vanilla; mix 2 more minutes (batter will be thin)
  • 5pour into pan and bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. cool on wire racks.
  • 6meanwhile, for icing, combine the milk and flour in a saucepan; cook until thick. cover and refrigerate.
  • 7in a mixing bowl beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy.
  • 8add chilled milk and flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes.
  • 9frost cooled cake and serve.
