This recipe is from my mother-in-law. She had added it to a hometown recipe book that was published for a fundraiser. "The Art of Cooking in Egg Harbor City" (NJ). No date is on the book, so I don't know exactly when it was printed. I've written the directions exactly as she had them listed. :)

Ingredients
- CAKE:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs, separated
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- CRUMBS:
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 4 tablespoons sugar (2 brown & 2 white)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
How To Make grandmom elaine's crumb cake

Step 1Combine butter, brown & white sugar, and cinnamon to make crumbs. Set aside and make the cake.

Step 2Cream butter, then gradually add sugar, then add the egg yolks.

Step 3Mix alternately with milk and sifted dry ingredients.

Step 4Add vanilla and lastly fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Step 5Pour batter and sprinkle on crumbs.

Step 6Bake in a preheated oven, at 350 degrees, for 35 minutes.
