WE have used this for more then 40 years, although I dont know where It 1st came from... All, I know is everyone that eats some wants more the next time it is made I will have to make this soon so I can post pictures... the Family will be glad I do anyways

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 pounds raisins
- 8 ounces candied cherries
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon each.. cloves, nutmeg and mace
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 6 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup prune juice
- 4 ounces candied lemon peel (optinal)

Step 1Wash and dry raisins , put in large mixing bowl Cut cherries in half(I use 4oz of each red and green) then add make sure walnuts are crushed using flat side of large knife then add if using peel, mix in here set aside

Step 2In another mixing bowl cream butter and add sugar (beat till fluffy) add eggs (mix well) add molasses add prune juice Mix well and set aside

Step 3Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and spices well ( I do this 3 times) Take 1 cup of flour mixture and sift over raisins, cherries and nuts. Add remainder to cream mix and stir. Add both mixing bowls together and mix well again. (easiest to do this with very clean hands)

Step 4turn into an aluminum foiled greased pan Bake at 275F for 3 1/2 - 4 hrs let cool , wrap in foil and hide it from everyone
