grandma's oatmeal cake

Ingredients
- CAKE:
- 1 cup quick oatmeal
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup oleo (butter or margarine)
- 2 medium eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- FROSTING:
- 2 tablespoons soft oleo (butter)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup flaked coconut
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
How To Make grandma's oatmeal cake

Step 1Stir together the boiling water and oatmeal until there are no lumps, and let cool in refrigerator. (you can use leftover oatmeal if desired, use at room temperature).

Step 2Combine sugars, oleo and eggs beat well then add the flour, cinnamon, soda and salt. Blend well then add cooled oatmeal and blend well.

Step 3Pour into sprayed 9x13-inch cake pan. Bake at 350F oven for 40-50 minutes.

Step 4Frosting: In a small saucepan combine butter, sugar and milk, heat to boiling. Remove from heat add vanilla, coconut and pecans.

Step 5Spread on cake while it is still warm.
