This Was My Grandma's Recipe From When I Was a Little Girl,Easy To Make,My Mom Made This Bread For Us.
Now My Daughter Jo Ann Webb Makes It For Her Kids And Grand Kids.Very Good Gingerbread.

Ingredients

  • 8 Tbsp
    or 1 stick of soft butter
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    molasses
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour -all-purpose
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    ginger
  • 2 tsp
    cinnoman
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 c
    boiling water
  • 1 tsp
    grated orange zest
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Grandma's Gingerbread

Step-by-Step

  1. preheat oven to (350*) in a medium bowl. beat butter in with sugar and molasses.
  2. mix in egg.
  3. sift all dry ingredients.
  4. add; to the mixture alternately with water.
    just until combined.
  5. bake in greased 9 inch square pan.
    bake 40 minutes.
