I found this recipe in my Grandma's recipes , I have not had this in years , I liked it when my grandma made it But that was years ago....anyone want to try it out ?

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c
    all purpose flour ; sifted
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    cocoa powder
  • 2/3 c
    shortening
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    well drained chopped sauerkraut

How to Make Grandma's Chocolate Kraut Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift together flour , soda , baking powder ,salt and cocoa.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy ; Add vanilla and blend.
  3. Add eggs ; 1 @ a time beating well.
  4. Add flour mixture , alternately with the water ; beating until smooth.
  5. Mix in the Sauerkraut.
  6. Bake @ 375° for 35 minutes or until done.
  7. **There is no taste of sauerkraut flavor in this cake **
