I love this easy to make carrot cake! Combine it with Tillie's White Sauce Frosting and you have the perfect not-too-sweet desert. Perfect for a fall finale to any meal. Or take it to a potluck.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 ½ cups cooking oil
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups grated carrots
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ to ¾ cups nuts ~ optional or adjustable amts to preference

How To Make grandma's carrot cake

  • Step 1
    Grease and flour 8x12 OR 9x13 cake pan. Pre-heat oven to 350°. ( layer pans work fine too.)
  • Step 2
    Mix together: sugar, cooking oil, eggs.
  • Step 3
    Sift together and add to first mixture: flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Step 4
    Add: grated carrots, cinnamon and nuts.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Cool. Frost with Tillie's White Sauce Frosting.
