Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 - egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup light cream
  • - butter, softened
  • 4 cups peaches, sliced and sugared

How To Make grandma peach shortcake

  • Step 1
    Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until mixture is like coarse crumbs.
  • Step 2
    Combine egg and cream; add all at once to dry ingredients, stirring only to moisten.
  • Step 3
    Turn dough out on floured surface; knead gently 1/2 minute.
  • Step 4
    Pat or roll dough to 1/2 inch. Cut 6 biscuits with floured 2 1/2-inch round or fluted cutter.
  • Step 5
    Bake on ungreased baking sheet in very hot oven (450) about 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Split shortcakes; butter bottom layers.
  • Step 7
    Fill and top with peaches and whipped cream - Serve warm.
