Ingredients

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. salt
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 2 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp. allspice, ground
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
• 1/2 tsp. cloves
• 1 can of beer
