My Mom gavae me this recipe 40 years ago. It is great for strawberry shortcake or just eating alone. You can also add a glaze or different flavorings to it for a little variety

Ingredients
- 1 pound butter
- 1 pound confectioners sugar
- 1 pound cake flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 - eggs
How To Make gramma's pound cake

Step 1Cream butter and sugar together till light and fluffy Add salt and flavorings(I use almond extract, lemon, chocolate or whatever flavor you like)

Step 2Add flour and an egg, beating well after each. When all the flour and eggs are mixed in the batter, beat for another 2-4 minutes at high speed. The air you beat into the cake will make it rise, so it is important that it is beat well.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees for one hour in a well greased tube pan. Check if done by inserting a toothpick near the center of pan. Cool, enjoy!!!
