This is an upside down variation of Paula Deen's Gooey butter cake recipe. My family loves it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 box german chocolate cake (and ingredients needed to prepare it)
  • 1 pound confectioner's sugar (or 4 cups)
  • 1 package 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 cup butter

How To Make gooey upside down german chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    Flour and grease a 9x13 pan
  • Step 2
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle coconut and pecans in bottom of pan.
  • Step 4
    Prepare cake mix per box instructions.
  • Step 5
    Pour prepared cake batter over coconut and pecans.
  • Step 6
    Mix confectioner's sugar, cream cheese, and butter in a medium bowl until well blended.
  • Step 7
    Pour/spoon over cake batter - do NOT mix it.
  • Step 8
    Back 50-55 minutes.
  • Step 9
    Enjoy!
