  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • - dash of salt
  • 1/2 stick butter, cold
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup water, cold
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 stick butter, cold
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons milk for consistancy
  • 1/2 cup pecans chopped
  • 2 cups powder sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make gooey chocolate cast iron skillet cake

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl whisk together flour,baking soda,sugar,salt set aside
  • Step 2
    in a 10inch cast iron skillet bring to a boil the butter,vegetable oil, cocoa powder, and water remove from heat
  • Step 3
    whisk in all the dry ingredients then add the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract stir all together
  • Step 4
    Then bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 mins till the toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs
  • Step 5
    while cake starts to cool
  • Step 6
    In a sauce pan bring to a boil butter, cocoa, and milk then remove from heat
  • Step 7
    then add the powder sugar,nuts, and vanilla extract and stir well pour over cake and spread out
  • Step 8
    This cake is really good served with vanilla ice cream and carmel sauce
