Ingredients
- BASE
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- TOPPING
- 3 tablespoons + 1 tsp corn syrup
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 12 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup + 3 tbs flour
- confectioners' sugar
How To Make gooey butter cake

Step 1Grease 13"x9" baking dish.

Step 2In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Step 3In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg and vanilla.

Step 4Add wet ingredients to flour mixture to combine.

Step 5Press onto bottom of baking dish.

Step 6Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 7Topping: In a small bowl mix corn syrup with 2 tablespoons water and vanilla.

Step 8Using mixer cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 9Beat in egg.

Step 10Alternately add flour and corn syrup.

Step 11Spoon topping over cake base. Using spatula spread inn even layer.

Step 12Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.

Step 13Cool in pan before sprinkling with confectioners' sugar.
