Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup dark molasses
- 1 - egg, slightly beaten
How To Make ginger bread

Step 1Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger and allspice in mixing bowl; set aside . Combine shortening and boiling water in large bowl; blend in brown sugar, molasses and egg. Add dry ingredients gradually ; mix till thoroughly combined. Pour batter into greased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350* for 30 to 40 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream.
