I cut the cake into squares and add to my gift plates of Christmas cookies every year.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped dates
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped toasted pecans

How To Make german christmas cake

  • Step 1
    Simmer first five ingredients for 20 minutes then cool
  • Step 2
    sift together remaining ingredients except Pecans. Combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients and pour into a greased 8 inch square baking pan.
  • Step 3
    Top with pecan halves and bake at 325 for 1-1 1/2 hour.
