This recipe is delicious! My Dad's favorite cake is *German Chocolate Cake* so this is a must in my recipe box!

  • 1 can(s)
    carnation evaporated milk
  • 1 c
  • 3
    egg yolks ( slightly beaten )
  • 1/2 c
    real butter
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1 c
    shredded coconut ( lightly pre-toasted in the oven )

How to Make German Chocolate Frosting


  1. On a cookie sheet, spread out coconut to a thin layer. Place in pre-heated oven @ 350* for 10 to 15 minutes. Set aside...
  2. In a medium saucepan add milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, vanilla.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a slow boil. Continue cooking while stirring for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add pecans and coconut and stir.
    Let mixture cool and fill or frost your chocolate cake. Voila`~ delicious!
