Ingredients
- 11/2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - topping:
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup coconut
How To Make german chocolate cake

Step 1Pour boiling water over oatmeal, and set aside.Cream shortening, sugar. Add eggs, Beat well. Sift flour and dry ingredients. Mix with creamed mixture. Pour into cake pan and bake at 350 degrees about 40 minutes.

Step 2Pour topping over cake and broil til it melts.Garnish with cherry (if desired)
