All the guys at Tridom in Marietta, GA. loved this one. I'd bake it while I got dressed for work and take it still warm from the oven. We'd have cake with our morning coffee.

Ingredients

  • CAKE

  • 1 1/2 c
    small curd cottage cheese (12 oz)
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 box
    pillsbury plus white cake mix
  • TOPPING

  • 2/3 c
    sugar
  • 2/3 c
    butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 c
    almonds, slivered
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract

How to Make German Almond Coffee Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350*. Grease and flour 2 8" or 9" round cake pans.
  2. In a medium saucepan heat sugar, butter and milk to boiling and boil for 1 minute. Stir in almonds and extract. Set aside to cool while preparing the cake.
  3. In a large bowl beat cottage cheese, milk, flavor, and eggs. Add the cake mix and beat 1 min.
  4. Spread in prepared pans and spoon topping evenly over batter.
  5. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.
