I have made this recipe for years, it is one of my favorites. I make it often for company because it is so quick and easy.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
  • 1 ounce chocolate, unsweeted and melted
  • 1/4 cup cocoa, unsweetened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1.75 cups water, hot
  • - whipped cream, optional

How To Make fudge pudding cake

  • Step 1
    Sift flour with baking powder, salt and sugar into bowl; add nuts, then stir in milk, vanilla, shortening and chocolate.
  • Step 2
    Spread batter in greased 8-inch square pan.
  • Step 3
    Mix cocoa with brown sugar, stir in hot water and pour over batter.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 375 40 minutes - As pudding bakes, cake layer forms on top with rich sauce on bottom.
  • Step 5
    Spoon warm pudding cake into dessert dishes and top with whipped cream (or ice cream!), if desired.
