My mother would make this cake when she was in a hurry to get dinner on the table so we could have dessert after. We all loved this cake and its good cold too with ice cream.

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 can(s)
    fruit cocktail, canned (do not drain)
  • 1
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Fruit Cocktail Cake


  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt
  2. Stir in fruit cocktail
  3. Add egg slightly beaten
  4. pour into greased cake pan 8" x 12"
  5. Mix brown sugar and nuts; sprinkle over batter.
  6. Bake in 350 deg oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
