My mother would make this cake when she was in a hurry to get dinner on the table so we could have dessert after. We all loved this cake and its good cold too with ice cream.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 can fruit cocktail, canned (do not drain)
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
How To Make fruit cocktail cake

Step 1Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt

Step 2Stir in fruit cocktail

Step 3Add egg slightly beaten

Step 4pour into greased cake pan 8" x 12"

Step 5Mix brown sugar and nuts; sprinkle over batter.

Step 6Bake in 350 deg oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
