This recipe is from Taste of Home. I have been using this since the early 1990's. It makes a large cookie sheet and is always a hit at potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups bananas, mashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 package cream cheese, room temperature (8 ounces)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How To Make frosted banana bars

  • Step 1
    Cream margarine, sugar and eggs. Mix bananas and vanilla in.
  • Step 2
    Add flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Step 3
    Grease a cookie sheet and put batter into pan.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees for 18-23 minutes. Cool.
  • Step 5
    Mix frosting ingredients and spread on cooled bars.
