    shortening, or two sticks margarine
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 2 c
  • 1 c
    sour milk, add 1 tbsp of vinegar to milk to make it sour, let it sit awhile
  • 2 tsp
  • 1 c
  • 4 c
  • 2 tsp
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda, dissolve baking soda in hot water
  • 1 c
    hot water

  • 1 c
    white shortening (crisco)
  • 4 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 2 c
    marshmallow cream (fluff)

How to Make Frieda's Whoppie Pie


  1. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add sour milk and vanilla. Sift in cocoa, flour, and salt. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and then add to mix. With a large spoon, scoop out circles of batter onto baking sheet.
  2. Bake at 400 degrees for 6 minutes. Let Cool
  3. For Filling
    add all ingredients in a large bowl. Wet with a little milk (just enough to make creamy consistency) and beat well. Spread filling onto half of the circles and place remaining circles on top.
