fresh orange cake

My daughter brought me some fresh oranges back from Florida when she went and I wanted to make a cake with some of them. It was so good and moist and now I am sharing it with you. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • - juice of one lemon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream

How To Make fresh orange cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 3 9 inch round cake pans. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and cream together. Add dry ingredients that have been sifted together. Add milk and orange juice and zest. Bake for 25 or 30 minutes. Cool on baking racks after removing from pans.
  • Step 2
    Frosting: Cook first five ingredients until thick. Beat cream until thick and swirly. Add to cooled, cooked mixture and spread on cake and in between layers. Sprinkle orange zest on top.
