It's a really good cake with fresh cherries and almonds. This is a modification of America's classic cherry pie that is delicious for any occasion. Especially the Fourth of July!

Ingredients

  • 14 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar or extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • - juice and zest from 1 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons peach jelly
  • 1/2 cup almonds, slivered
  • 3-4 cups cherries

How To Make fresh cherry cake

  • Step 1
    Beat butter,sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs,one at the time. Add lemon juice and zest.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl, mix the flour,baking powder, and salt. Add eggs to the mixture. Then add sour cream.
  • Step 3
    Pit the cherries.Pour the dough to a 9 inch springform pan(the pan should be greased and sprinkled with bread crumbs).
  • Step 4
    Arrange the cherries on top of the dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake the cake in a preheated oven to 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Warm up the peach jelly and glaze on top of the cake on the cherries.Serve with a cup of coffee.
