It's a really good cake with fresh cherries and almonds. This is a modification of America's classic cherry pie that is delicious for any occasion. Especially the Fourth of July!

Ingredients
- 14 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla sugar or extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- - juice and zest from 1 lemon
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons peach jelly
- 1/2 cup almonds, slivered
- 3-4 cups cherries
How To Make fresh cherry cake

Step 1Beat butter,sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs,one at the time. Add lemon juice and zest.

Step 2In another bowl, mix the flour,baking powder, and salt. Add eggs to the mixture. Then add sour cream.

Step 3Pit the cherries.Pour the dough to a 9 inch springform pan(the pan should be greased and sprinkled with bread crumbs).

Step 4Arrange the cherries on top of the dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake the cake in a preheated oven to 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes.

Step 5Warm up the peach jelly and glaze on top of the cake on the cherries.Serve with a cup of coffee.
