It's a really good cake with fresh cherries and almonds. This is a modification of America's classic cherry pie that is delicious for any occasion. Especially the Fourth of July!

vanilla sugar or extract

juice and zest from 1 lemon
2 tsp
baking powder
2 Tbsp
sour cream
1/4 tsp
4 Tbsp
peach jelly
1/2 c
almonds, slivered
3-4 c

How to Make Fresh Cherry Cake


  • 1Beat butter,sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs,one at the time. Add lemon juice and zest.
  • 2In another bowl, mix the flour,baking powder, and salt. Add eggs to the mixture. Then add sour cream.
  • 3Pit the cherries.Pour the dough to a 9 inch springform pan(the pan should be greased and sprinkled with bread crumbs).
  • 4Arrange the cherries on top of the dough. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake the cake in a preheated oven to 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes.
  • 5Warm up the peach jelly and glaze on top of the cake on the cherries.Serve with a cup of coffee.
