1/2 cbutter(stick)room temp

1 clight brown sugar, firmly packed

2 Tbspevaporated milk or heavy cream

2-3 mediumapples, peeled and sliced

1 1/2 cflour(i always use self-rising)

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspsalt

1 1/4 cshortening
-
1 3/4 csugar

1egg
-
1/2 cmilk
-
1/2 tspvanilla

IF YOU USE ALL PURPOSE FLOUR, ADD 2 TSP BAKING POWDER TO FLOUR
How to Make fresh apple upside down cake
- Heat oven to 350. Melt butter in cast iron skillet over low heat. When almost melted turn off heat,add the br. sugar and evap milk or cream, stir until ingredients are incorporated. smooth sugar mixture in pan. Arrange apple slices on top of sugar mixture.
- Sift flour, cin, and salt. Cream together shortening and sugar until smooth, add egg, then gently beat in dry ing alternating with milk. add vanilla.
- Pour batter over apples, careful not to stir mixture, smooth batter with wooden spoon. bake 35-45 min or until toothpick comes out clean.
