This is the first cake my Grandmother taught me to bake. It is a very simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick
    unsalted butter
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 4 c
    finely chopped apples
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Fresh Apple Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar together. Beat in Eggs.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda & Cinnamon.
  3. Mix dry ingredients into soft ingredients. Add slowly and do not overbeat.
  4. Fold in Apples & Nuts.
  5. Pour into greased & floured 9x13 pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 35-45 minutes or until cake tests done.
  6. Wonderful served warm or cold. I usually serve it warm with a drizzle of caramel & whipped cream.
