This is the first cake my Grandmother taught me to bake. It is a very simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 cups finely chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

How To Make fresh apple cake

  • Step 1
    Cream Butter and Sugar together. Beat in Eggs.
  • Step 2
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda & Cinnamon.
  • Step 3
    Mix dry ingredients into soft ingredients. Add slowly and do not overbeat.
  • Step 4
    Fold in Apples & Nuts.
  • Step 5
    Pour into greased & floured 9x13 pan. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 35-45 minutes or until cake tests done.
  • Step 6
    Wonderful served warm or cold. I usually serve it warm with a drizzle of caramel & whipped cream.
