Ingredients
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 2 pints blueberries
- 3 pints strawberries
- 3 cups whipping cream
- 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
How To Make fourth of july flag cake

Step 1Bake the cake according to the directions, in a 9 X 13 inch pan. (Use the high altitude directions if you need them.)

Step 2Cool. (Cake may be made ahead and frozen.)

Step 3Place on a serving plate or board.

Step 4Whip the cream with the confectioners sugar.

Step 5Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise.

Step 6Spread the cream evenly around the sides of the cake, saving a little for the top.

Step 7To decorate: Using a pastry bag, pipe (or dollop and spread with a spatula) rows of cream alternating with rows of strawberries for the flag \"stripes\".

Step 8Make a background of the blueberries in the upper left-hand corner, then pipe or dollop stars on top to create the \"star\" section of the cake.

Step 9If making cake ahead, arrange fruit several hours before serving.

Step 10Add the cream up to an hour before serving.

Step 11VARIATION: Use chocolate cake mix instead of yellow.
