five flavor cake

Ok of all the cookbooks that I've acquired over the years, this one that I got that was a handmade cookbook from a place called Miss Daisy's Tearoom in Carter's Court, Franklin, Tennessee. There is this cake that I honestly have not been able to find in any of my other cookbooks but its very unusual but seems easy to make and sounds very delicious.

Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 - eggs, well beaten
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • GLAZE
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make five flavor cake

  • Step 1
    Cream butter,shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs which have been beaten until lemon colored. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to cream mixture alternately with milk. Stir in flavorings. Spoon mixture into a greased 10 inch tube pan and bake @ 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours, or until cake tests done. Add glaze if desired or cool in pan about 10 minutes before turning out.
  • Step 2
    GLAZE: Combine and bring to a boil. Pour over hot cake in pan. Let sit in pan until cool.
