We have made this coffee cake many times.It is great for breakfast and/or served with coffee or a cuppa tea.

Ingredients
- GREASE LAYER PAN: 8X8X2 OR 9X9X2 INCHES OR ROUND 9X1.5 INCHES.
- COFFEE CAKE INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 - egg
- TOPPING INGREDIENTS
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons butter, firm butter.
How To Make favorite coffee cake

Step 1Heat Oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2Grease round layer pan, 9 x 1 1/2 inches. or square pan, 8 x 8 x2 inches or 9 x9 x2 inches.

Step 3Blend all ingredients except Topping. Beat vigorously 1/2 minute. Spread in greased pan.

Step 4Make Topping: Mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and firm butter until crumbly.

Step 5Sprinkle Topping over batter.

Step 6Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
