Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 cup strong black coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FROSTING INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How To Make favorite chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powser, and salt. Add eggs, coffee, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla, Beat at medium speed for two minutes. (Batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Step 3
    Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Frosting: Combine all frosting ingredients with a hand mixer. Spread frosting on cooled cakes. (I freeze my cakes first and then frost them while still frozen)
