I made these many years ago for a get together and everyone enjoyed them I got the recipe from an old cookbook.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2 cups regular flour (sifted)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon extract or juice
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • - confectioners' sugar

How To Make easy-time holiday squares

  • Step 1
    Graduallyadd sugar to butter in large mixer bowl,creaming at medium speed of mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Step 2
    At medium speed add eggs,one at a time,beating well after each.
  • Step 3
    At low speed add flour and lemon extract.
  • Step 4
    Pour batter into a well-greased 15x10x1-inch jellyroll pan.Mark off into 20 squares.Place 1 heaping tablespoon pie filling in center of each square.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.While warm ,sift confections's sugar over cake.Cool cut into squares.
