I made these many years ago for a get together and everyone enjoyed them I got the recipe from an old cookbook.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 4 - eggs
- 2 cups regular flour (sifted)
- 1 tablespoon lemon extract or juice
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- - confectioners' sugar
How To Make easy-time holiday squares

Step 1Graduallyadd sugar to butter in large mixer bowl,creaming at medium speed of mixer until light and fluffy.

Step 2At medium speed add eggs,one at a time,beating well after each.

Step 3At low speed add flour and lemon extract.

Step 4Pour batter into a well-greased 15x10x1-inch jellyroll pan.Mark off into 20 squares.Place 1 heaping tablespoon pie filling in center of each square.

Step 5Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.While warm ,sift confections's sugar over cake.Cool cut into squares.
