easy spice cake

I wanted to make a cake for my husband a couple of days ago, but I wasn't feeling well. So I pulled out a box cake mix, took a chance and worked a little magic with it. The result? Wonderful yumminess!!! I hope you like it, too. [You could also substitute the French vanilla cake mix with yellow cake mix.] :)

Ingredients

  • 1 box french vanilla cake mix
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon grond cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups natural applesauce
  • 3 large eggs

How To Make easy spice cake

  • Step 1
    Add all ingredients into a large bowl.
  • Step 2
    Using a handmixer (or the mixer of your choice), mix all ingredients on low for 30 seconds.
  • Step 3
    Increase mixer speed to medium-high (or high if you have a 3-speed mixer) for 2 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Spray a 13x9x2 pan with canola or butter-flavored cooking spray.
  • Step 5
    Pour batter into cake pan, and bake for 28-30 minutes at 350°F.
  • Step 6
    Allow cake to cool (app. 1 hr.), and frost with your favorite frosting. [I used the vanilla buttercream frosting I have posted.]
