Ingredients

  • 1 box betty crocker super moist french vanilla cake mix or white, yellow or pineapple cake mix
  • 2/3 cup drained pineapple juice & water-combined to make 2/3 cups liquid
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 - eggs
  • PINEAPPLE TOPPING
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 8 - maraschino cherries, halved & drained
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed pineapple, reserving juice for cake mix

How To Make easy does it pineapple upside down cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350F. Spray 10 inch iron skillet with non stick cooking spray. Wipe away excess with a paper towel.
  • Step 2
    Combine cake mix with pineapple-water mixture, oil and eggs. Beat on low until just mixed then beat on medium speed for 1 1/2 minutes.

    Step 3
    Melt butter in skillet-DO NOT BROWN. Use low heat. Sprinkle brown sugar to cover bottom, top with drained pineapple. (May use crushed and/or sliced pineapple rings) Do not stir. Slice cherries in half and place cut side up on top of pineapple.
  • Step 4
    Pour cake batter on top of cherries. Do not overfill. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until done.
  • Step 5
    Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Invert onto cake plate.
