easy chocolate sheet cake

This cake is very moist, delicious and quick to make. In a matter of minutes you can make the cake, frosting and have the cake frosted. I always bake my cake in a 9 x 13 x 2 inch or 10 inch tube or Bundt pan. You probably could do this in layers, but I've never tried it.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • dash salt
  • ICING
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1 box confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

How To Make easy chocolate sheet cake

  • Step 1
    Sift together flour and sugar well. Bring margarine, cocoa and water to a boil. Pour over flour mixture. Mix well.
  • Step 2
    Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, vanilla flavoring and salt. Pour batter into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Step 3
    Bring butter, cocoa and milk to a boil. Pour over confectioners' sugar. Beat well with mixer. Add vanilla flavoring. Spread on cake. You can add 1 cup chopped pecans, if desired.
