easy black forest dessert

The original recipe called for canned pineapple as the fruit, a yellow cake mix, and walnuts instead of the almonds. But I like chocolate and cherries together and almonds go well with cherries. Be sure to let this cool to set up after baking. I also tried it with a brownie mix, and it was pretty good!

Ingredients
- 1 package Chocolate cake mix (your favorite flavor)
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- 1 can cherries with juice (do not drain)
- 2 sticks butter, cold
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds

Step 1Spray 13 x 9 inch pan with Pam. Preheat oven at 350 degrees (325 for glass pan).

Step 2Empty can of fruit and can of fruit pie filling into cake pan. Stir to combine.

Step 3Shake cake mix over fruit, being sure it is all covered.

Step 4Cut up 2 sticks of cold butter over the cake mix. Sprinkle nuts over all.

Step 5Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
