Not sure where I got this recipe from... but it sure is good!!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 cup water, boiling
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice, ground
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup raisin

How To Make dutch stroophock (molasses cake)

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl add butter, sugar, and molasses. Pour boiling water over that and mix real well.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl stir together flour, baking soda, and all the spices.
  • Step 3
    Add the 1/2 of the dry ingredients into the wet and mix well and then add the rest of the dry ingredients.
  • Step 4
    Add the beaten egg mix until its fully incorporated into batter. Stir in the raisins.
  • Step 5
    Pour into a well greased baking pan 9x9x2 and bake at 375 for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
