This is a very traditional coven delight for Mabon or Samhain

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 cups thinly sliced apples (mixed with a 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice with 1/4 cup water) drain before using

How To Make dutch apple cake

  • Step 1
    Cream butter, sugar and eggs together. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt and add alternately with the milk to the first mixture. Add vanilla and beat thoroughly.
  • Step 2
    Pour into a greased pan, having batter 1 inch deep in 9-inch cake pan or a springform pan. Arrange thinly sliced apples in rows on top of batter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and dot with small bits of butter. Bake in a moderate oven (350º) for 45 minutes or until apples are tender.
