I found a Cola cake recipe in an old cookbook. I followed the directions but didn't turn out well. I adjusted the recipe to my taste.

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    dr.pepper
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • THE TOPPING

  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    dr.pepper
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How to Make Dr. Pepper Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350*.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter, Dr.Pepper and sugar together.
  3. Mix the cocoa, cinnamon, flour and baking soda; add to creamed mixture.
  4. Beat two eggs with the buttermilk and add to the bowl.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes.
  6. For the topping,heat all 5 ingredients. Stir well until smooth.
  7. Remove cake from oven and pour topping onto cake. Let cake set for 30 minutes before serving.
