chopped walnuts, toasted

unsweetened chocolate squares
semisweet chocolate square
2 Tbsp
3 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
heavy cream
2 c
confectioners' sugar

How to Make Double Fudge Kahlua Brownies


  • 1Line bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with cooking parchment.
  • 2Melt chocolate and butter with pepper over low heat, then beat eggs with sugar and vanilla until blended.
  • 3Stir in cooled chocolate mixture, then kahlua.
  • 4Resift flour, salt and baking powder into mixture and stir until blended and add nuts.
  • 5Turn into pan and bake in 350 degree oven just until pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes (be careful not to overbake).
  • 6For Quick Fudge Frosting: Melt 2 squares unsweetened chocolate and 1 square semi-sweet chocolate with 2 tablespoons butter over low heat.
  • 7Heat 3 tablespoons kahlua and 2 tablespoons heavy cream together.
  • 8Combine chocolate and kahlua mixtures with 2 cups powdered sugar (free from lumps).
  • 9Beat until well blended and thick and if necessary, beat in a little extra powdered sugar for good spreading consistency.
  • 10Frost brownies immediately as mixture stiffens upon setting.
  • 11Sprinke with additional nuts, if desired and cut into squares or bars.
