This is a cake for all chocolate lovers who want a rich, moist and gooey cake. I have been making this cake for years. I hope you enjoy this cake as much as my family does.

butter, melted, divided
18 1/4 oz box chocolate cake mix
3 large
eggs, divided
1 lb
powdered sugar
1 tsp
1 c
chopped nuts
8 oz
cream cheese
3 1/2 Tbsp
cocoa powder

How to Make Double Chocolate Gooey Buter Cake


  • 1Lightly spray 9x13 pan with cooking spray. Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2Combine cake mix, 8T (1 stick) melted butter and 1 egg. Mix well and press into the bottom of prepared pan
  • 3Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add remaining 2 eggs and cocoa powder, mix til combined. With mixer on low add powdered sugar and mix well. slowly add remaining melted butter and vanilla. Beat til smooth.
  • 4Stir in nuts (optional) Pour over cake bottom. Bake 40-50 min. DO NOT over bake. Center should still be gooey when finished baking. Let cool before cutting
