  • 1 c
    sugar, or splenda sugar
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour,sifted
  • 1 c
    butter flavor shortening or buttter
  • 1 c
    milk or fat-free milk
  • 1
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar, or splenda brown sugar (topping)
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon (topping)
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter flavor shortening or butter(topping)

How to Make Deutsch Cake


  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the sugar or splenda, baking powder and flour. Mix the the butter, milk and egg.
  2. Mix the brown sugar or Splenda and cinnamon together. Punch hole in the batter, pour in the butter, and sprinkle the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  3. Bake in oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
    This is Pennsylvania German's served on New Year Eve
