Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup hersheys cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup boiling water

How To Make deep dark chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add remianing ingredients EXCEPT the boiling water. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes. Revove from mixer and stir in boiling water. (batter will be thin) Pour into two greased and floured 9" pans or 3 8" pans or one 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 min for layers and 35-40 minutes for the 13x9" pan or until cake test done in center. Cool 10 min on racks. Remove from layered pans. Cool completely.
  • Step 2
    Frosting: 1/2 cup Hershey cocoa, 2 2/3 c. powder sugar 6 Tab butter or margarine 4 Tablespoon milk 1 Teaspoon vanilla Cream butter until softened in small bowl. Add Cocoa. Blend well. Gradually add powdered sugar alternately with milk and vanilla. Beat to spreading consistency. Makes 2 cups frosting. Enough for 30 cup cakes or a 8" or 9" two layer cake or the 9 x 13 " pan.
