My sweet Aunt Rosey makes this cake. I'm not crazy about dates but this cake has chocolate chips too! It is very good.

Ingredients
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts
How To Make date cake

Step 1Pour boiling water over the chopped dates. Let stand while measuring dry ingredients.

Step 2Mix dry ingredients (sugar, soda, salt, cocoa and flour)

Step 3Add in to dry mixture the oil, egg and vanilla. Mix together then add and stir in date mixture to cake mix.

Step 4Pour into greased 13 x 9 cake pan. Add on top of mix the 1 cup of choc. chips and 1 cup of chopped nuts (DO NOT MIX). Bake at 350* for 30 to 35 minutes.
