My sister-inlaw gave me this recipe many years ago. It makes 6 loaf pans. I slice then wrap with saran wrap then foil and freeze so that way I can have it during all of the holidays. The house smells so good when baking this up. It's one of my " gotta have" for the holidays.

Ingredients

fruit mix
6 c
pecans
3 c
raisins
1 c
honey
1 qt
figs
1 c
coffee, room temperature
1 c
wine (i use blackberry)
2 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
nutmeg
1 tsp
cloves
1 lb
fruit cake mix
cake batter
1 c
butter or margarine
1 c
sugar
4
well beaten eggs
4 1/2 c
flour
1 1/2 tsp
soda
1 1/2 tsp
salt

How to Make Dark Fruitcake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Add 1 cup flour to Fruit Cake mix,pecans, honey, figs, raisins, coffee, wine, and spices.
  • 2Let stand while fixing cake batter.
  • 3Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  • 4Add well beaten eggs
  • 5When batter is well mixed add to the fruit mix
  • 6Pour into six small loaf pans that have been sprayed with Pam.
  • 7Bake for about 2 hours or until done.
  • 8Set oven at 325 degree
