My sister-inlaw gave me this recipe many years ago. It makes 6 loaf pans. I slice then wrap with saran wrap then foil and freeze so that way I can have it during all of the holidays. The house smells so good when baking this up. It's one of my " gotta have" for the holidays.

Ingredients

  • - fruit mix
  • 6 cups pecans
  • 3 cups raisins
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 quart figs
  • 1 cup coffee, room temperature
  • 1 cup wine (i use blackberry)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 pound fruit cake mix
  • - cake batter
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 - well beaten eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

How To Make dark fruitcake

  • Step 1
    Add 1 cup flour to Fruit Cake mix,pecans, honey, figs, raisins, coffee, wine, and spices.
  • Step 2
    Let stand while fixing cake batter.
  • Step 3
    Cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Step 4
    Add well beaten eggs
  • Step 5
    When batter is well mixed add to the fruit mix
  • Step 6
    Pour into six small loaf pans that have been sprayed with Pam.
  • Step 7
    Bake for about 2 hours or until done.
  • Step 8
    Set oven at 325 degree
