Been baking this for several decades. During parties and gatherings, this is always the most requested dessert and the fastest to disappear. Great with whipped cream topping.

1 c
sugar
1 c
all purpose flour
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt

# 2 can crushed pineapple
1/3 c
brown sugar for topping

How to Make CRUSHED PINEAPPLE TORTE (Cake)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Sift together all dry ingredients.
  • 2Add 1 beaten egg.
  • 3Add #2 can crushed pineapple (alternative is fruit cocktail. Include the juice of the crushed pineapple.
  • 4Pour on 8x8 greased pan. Sprinkle with 1/3 cup brown sugar.
  • 5Bake 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes.
  • 6For 9x10 pan, just double the recipe and bake for 15 minutes more or until cake tester comes out clean.
