crumb cake---very easy

When I was a child, my Mom would make this dessert for us because it is very inexpensive to make and we didn't have much money. This is a quick recipe for dessert or it can be a "coffee cake" type of cake, also. Enjoy as I have for years and years.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 2 - eggs/ beaten well
  • 1 cup sour milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking sode
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make crumb cake---very easy

  • Step 1
    Cream the first 3 ingredients together
  • Step 2
    Add additional 4 ingredients and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Pour into 8 1/2 inch X 9 inch pan (butter pan before pouring batter into pan)
  • Step 4
    Add 1 cup of walnuts on the top of cake
  • Step 5
    Bake in buttered pan for 25 minutes, in a moderate oven of 375 degrees. My oven runs a little hotter, so I reduce the oven temperature to 325 or 350
  • Step 6
