Ingredients For creme de menthe brownies

  • FOR THE BROWNIES
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2 oz
    unsweetened chocolate, cut up
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/4 tsp
    mint extract
  • 2/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • FOR THE FROSTING
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    green creme de menthe
  • 1 Tbsp
    milk
  • FOR THE CHOCOLATE TOPPINGS
  • 1 oz
    semi sweet baking chocolate
  • 3 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    andes mint chocolate candies, chopped (optional)

How To Make creme de menthe brownies

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

    Grease and flour an 8x8 square pan; set aside.

    In a medium heavy saucepan, stir 1/2 cup butter and unsweetened chocolate over low heat just until melted. Cool for 5 minutes. Stir in sugar, eggs, and mint extract. Stir just until combined.

    Stir in flour and spread batter into greased pan.

    Bake for 20 minutes and cool completely in a pan.

    For frosting, beat together 1/4 cup butter until fluffy, add in powdered sugar and continue to beat until incorporated, beat in creme de menthe, and milk.

    Spread frosting over cooled brownies. Refrigerate until frosting is chilled and firm.

    In the microwave or a small sauce pan over low heat, melt semi sweet chocolate and milk; stirring often. Drizzle chocolate over chilled brownies. Cool at room temp.

    Sprinkle chopped Andes mint chocolate candies over the top.
