I originally found the recipe when searching for a recipe for a good red velvet cake. This recipe comes from the Waldorf Astoria Red Velvet Cake recipe. Both the cake and the frosting are awesome!

I discovered that this frosting goes great on other cakes, especially the Black Magic Cake. It's light and creamy, but not too sweet. It looks & tastes like whipped cream.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

3 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1 c
milk
1 c
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
1 c
butter (must be real butter)

How to Make Creamy White Frosting

Step-by-Step

  • 1Add milk to flour slowly, avoiding lumps.

    Cook flour and milk until very thick, stirring constantly. (Pudding consistency)

    Cool completely.
  • 2Cream sugar, butter and vanilla until fluffy.
  • 3Add completely cooled thickened milk/flour mixturer to butter/sugar mixture in mixing bowl and beat at high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
