I got this recipe from my hometown paper back in 2002. It is a favorite of mine & who ever I make it for.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup crisco, butter-flavored
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 - eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract - or - coconut flavoring

How To Make cream pound cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven: 325 degrees. Grease & flour -- 10 inch tube pan
  • Step 2
    In mixing bowl: cream Crisco & sugar thoroughly. Add eggs 1 at a time; beat after each one. Add your flavoring.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl: measure out the dry ingredients & then add alternately with the sour cream to the egg mixture. Beat thoroughly after each addition. Pour in pan.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. When cake tester comes out clean it is done. Cool on wire rack, then remove from pan.
  • Step 5
    Can be served plain or garnish with fresh fruit & whipped cream.
