Ingredients

  • 1 box
    butter or vanilla cake mix
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 3/4 c
    oil
  • CREAM CHEESE LAYER

  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese, 8 oz
  • 1 large
    egg
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • FROSTING

  • 2 pkg
    cream cheese, 8 oz
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    whipping cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Cream Cheese Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix together box cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil.
  2. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
  3. Pour batter into the pan. Set aside.
  4. Mix together cream cheese, egg, and sugar.
  5. Then add vanilla.
  6. Layer this mixture evenly over the top of the cake batter bringing it almost to the edge of the pan.
  7. Bake cake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Let cool and prepare the frosting.
  9. For frosting, cream butter and cream cheese.
  10. Add sugar a cup at a time.
  11. Then whipping cream and vanilla.
  12. Beat until light and fluffy about three minutes.
  13. Frost the cake.
  14. If making cupcakes, fill cupcake liner about halfway. Put a teaspoon of cream cheese filling in the middle of the batter. Cook at 350 for 20 minutes.
